Sylvia Phillips

Sylvia Grady Phillips is a native of San Antonio, Texas.  She has lived in Houston for over thirty years.  She is a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  Sylvia has over thirty-five years experience in Corporate America where she started her career as a legal secretary, being promoted to a paralegal and then, a project manager.  She is the owner and CEO of Sylvia G. Phillips Coaching.  Sylvia received her BS in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University and studied Mental Health Counseling at Capella University Graduate School.  Sylvia is a Certified John Maxwell Coach as well as a workplace and family mediator.  Sylvia has general training in the BackStory Breakthrough Method by Dr. Kirleen Neely, PhD, LPC-S.

 

Sylvia has an optimistic outlook on life and knows that taking action is the fist step.  She encourages her clients to move regardless of obstacles.  One of her mottos is Always in Motion “AIM.” She advocates helping clients move from STUCK to FREEDOM.  Sylvia teaches her clients to be flexible in an ever-changing world.  Her positive attitude encourages others to persevere and never give up on their dreams.  Sylvia educates clients on shifting the inner-voice from negative thoughts to positive actions.  She surmises that when you are true to self you will most often be true to others.

 

Sylvia is a motivational speaker that has spoken to groups including Jack and Jill – Humble, Kingwood area, Beauty Beyond Breast Cancer, Fresh Spirit Wellness for Women, Shell Oil Company’s Black Network, and Shell Oil Company’s Women’s organization.  Sylvia has chaired and raised money for organizations such as Susan G. Komen Shell event, Charmingly Pink Breast Cancer event, and Fresh Spirit Legacy Event.

 

Although Sylvia is an exceptional speaker, she understands that listening is one of the greatest gifts one can possess.  She strives to be an excellent listener so that she not only hears but also understands the needs of her clients.  Sylvia is well known for her confidentiality and professionalism.  She remains true to strong values and morals and encourages others to do the same.

 

Sylvia spends time mentoring youth and ministering to women in the crossroads of life.  She enjoys running and completed the Houston Half Marathon and other fun runs.  Sylvia has authored Thirty Days to a Purposeful Transition, an online tool.  She is the author of All Cried Out as well as From Stilettos to Sneakers schedule for release in third quarter, 2018.

 

Sylvia was awarded The Scales of Excellence Award from Shell Oil Company on several occasions for her successful delivery of projects.  Sylvia has sat on the board of Fresh Spirit Wellness for Women.  Her clients include individuals, groups, and non-profit organizations.
